Job overview
The succesful candidate will be joining a dynamic and hardworking team that prides itself on innovation and being leaders in CAD/CAM and 3D printing including metal printing. The workplace culture is centered on staff development and maintaining competitive advantage in dental technology.
We are looking to recruit a bright, keen and highly motivated generic technologist to join our team in delivering Prosthetic, Orthodontic and Conservation services. The laboratory supports under-graduate and post-graduate courses as well as specialist NHS Consultant clinical demands. The post requires an innovative mindset with excellent communication skills and will work in assisting the progression and evolution of the department.
The postholder will be required to follow a prescription to produce dental prosthesis across all disciplines of dental technology, to specific deadlines and standards. They will have responsibilities regarding record keeping and maintainig general cleanliness and organisation of work areas.

Main duties of the job
To undertake construction of a variety of types of dental prostheses under the supervision of senior staff.
To undertake all routine dental technology procedures within each of the specialities, utilising both traditional and CAD-CAM technology.
Advise/assist clinical undergraduates on technical problems relating to patient treatment.
Assist the Senior staff in the supervision and guidance of student Technicians
Assess individual units of work (prior to construction) for possible technical/clinical complications and report when necessary
Advise on stock levels when necessary.
Comply with recognised sickness, accident/incident, and leave-reporting procedures
To report all equipment failure/malfunction to the Laboratory Manager.
To maintain general cleanliness and organisation of work areas.
To participate in regular appraisal with your manager to identify training and development needs.
To comply with ISO 13485 quality standards within the department and to participate in quality initiatives within the Trust.
You are responsible to limit your actions to those for which you are competent.

1. To undertake construction of a variety of types of dental prostheses under the supervision of Laboratory Managers or designated senior member of technical staff. This will include full and partial dentures, crowns and bridges and pressure formed retainers etc.
2. To undertake all routine dental technology procedures within each of the specialities utilising both traditional and digital methods including CAD-CAM technology. This will require the retrieval of intra-oral scans and 3D printing of models.
3. Advise/assist clinical undergraduates on technical problems relating to patient treatment. Adjustments may be required to be made at chairside by the technician.
4. To undertake further training leading to the award of specialist postgraduate qualification. In-house relevant training is also provided.
5. Assist the Senior Technologist/Laboratory Manager in the supervision and guidance of student Technicians
6. Assess individual units of work (prior to construction) for possible technical/clinical complications and report when necessary
7. Utilise various methods of articulation. Plainline, Simplex, Free-Plain, Dentatus, Hanau, Denar, etc in conjunction with any sections above
8. Advise on stock levels when necessary.
9. Comply with recognised sickness, accident/incident, and leave-reporting procedures
