Job overview
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who is organised, computer literate and has the ability to communicate with all levels of staff for the post of Administrative Assistance Point of Care Testing, to work within the Blood Sciences POCT team at Bronglais General Hospital.
Working alongside the POCT Coordinator and team you will be required to support the day to day running of the service by providing POCT administrative, clerical and general duties.
The role will include interacting with staff of all grades in all areas of the Health Board including manufacturers.
This is a permanent position, 30 hours per week over 5 days.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of a team to support the following duties in accordance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):
Act as first point of contact for POCT related enquiries.
Assist with the record keeping of all POCT equipment, location, lead contacts and trained users.
Monitor and document POCT consumables and reagent levels.
To process POCT Certificates of Competence and/or training Checklists and issue/update POCT user barcodes across the Health Board.
To ensure that own workload is managed effectively.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent or equivalent level knowledge of POCT duties
Desirable criteria
- IBMS Certificate of Achievement Part 1
- GCSE Maths and / or Science
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a clinical laboratory or using POCT equipment in a clinical area.
- Able to show some knowledge and understanding of POCT
- Computer literate and good keyboard skills
- Ability to organise own time effectively and work to schedules and deadlines
- Ability to build effective relationships with laboratory and non-laboratory staff
- Ability to adhere to policies & procedures
Desirable criteria
- Familiar with other IT database and laboratory IT systems
- Knowledge of quality management systems
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing/ Laboratory Practice
Language Skills
Desirable criteria
- Welsh Speaker (Level 1)
