Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Bronglais Hospital for a rotational Specialist Clinical Pharmacist with drive and ability to become part of the dynamic Pharmacy Team. You will work in a supportive environment with training opportunities, to build on your foundation skills and develop your expertise.

Bronglais Hospital is a District General Hospital with around 130 beds, located in the seaside town of Aberystwyth.  The pharmacy department employs approximately 30 staff. It provides a range of medical specialities, including an acute coronary care unit, respiratory, oncology, haematology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, acute stroke and paediatrics, maternity, general surgery and orthopaedics, as well as a busy clinical decision unit and emergency department.

You will be expected to undertake Emergency Duty Commitment (on-call), work weekends and bank holidays as part of a rota.

The post is full-time, but part-time  will be considered.

Main duties of the job

The post requires a highly motivated pharmacist with excellent communication, interpersonal and teaching/presentation skills. You will undertake a range of ward rotations and will also undertake dispensary based duties.

These posts will enable you to deepen your knowledge and expertise and broaden transferable skills under the direction of experienced colleagues. You will build on previous experience, developing greater autonomy and responsibility, whilst gaining experience in a number of specialist areas. The postholder will be supported to undertake the non-medical prescribing qualification if they do not already hold it or will be supported to use their qualification to further develop their expertise.

You will be expected to support the junior pharmacists within the team as well as Trainee Pharmacists and Undergraduate Students undertaking the MPharm course.

The post holders will contribute to the planning and delivery of the medicines optimisation strategy.

We encourage potential applicants to contact us to discuss the post further.
