Job overview

Hywel Dda University Health Board are looking to appoint a Junior Cyber Security Specialist. The successful candidate will be pivotal in ensuring our systems and services are protected against the latest cyber threats.

Candidates should have knowledge of Cyber security technologies. Exposure to EDR and Secure Service Edge platforms would be beneficial. A good understanding of legislation and security frameworks such as the Network and Information Systems Regulations, ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials + would also be valuable.

We offer hybrid working options so the base of the role can be flexible however there will be a requirement to attend the office two days per week.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to monitor Cyber Security Systems, respond to Cyber Incidents and assist in the development of policy, processes, and procedures to reduce the likelihood of a Cyber Security incident.

As a member of the Digital Operations team at Hywel Dda UHB they will undertake vulnerability scanning and the monitoring of Cyber Security Systems.

They will respond to Cyber Security incidents and provide advice and knowledge to  support our Digital services as well as delivering cyber security training packages for both the team and the organisation.

With digital becoming a critical dependency in healthcare, availability of services is essential, and we must therefore instil a culture of Cyber Security from the ground up. They will be required to adhere to the Cyber Security professional code of conduct and keep up to date with legislation and national policies.

Work to achieve agreed team objectives with the freedom to do this working within cyber security guidelines.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services to almost 400,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Degree Level (preferably Cyber Security) or equivalent or equivalent level of work experience and knowledge across range of Cyber Security areas, underpinned by theory and experience of statistical / analytical techniques and procedures
  • Evidence of additional Continual Professional Development
  • Good understanding of Cyber Security best practices, standards, certifications and terminology.
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security monitoring and vulnerability scanning systems
Desirable criteria
  • ITIL Foundation

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant experience working in Cyber Security.
  • Evidence of Cyber Security or other relevant work outside formal training or employment (voluntary, research, academia, social media etc.)
  • Working with SIEM and Vulnerability scanning solutions.
  • Delivery of training packages.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of Digital Services provision in a health care setting
  • Delivery of training to technical and non-technical staff
  • Report writing.
  • Procedure development.
