Are you a Paediatric Dietitian looking for a new part time opportunity based in beautiful West Wales ?
Hywel Dda Nutrition and Dietetic service are looking for an experienced, dedicated paediatric dietitian to join our dynamic specialist paediatric and children diabetes dietetic team. The role involves working with children, young people, their families and carers and as part of paediatric multi-disciplinary teams, to provide specialist dietetic support in the community and hospital, across a variety of clinical areas.
The successful applicant will have a specialist area within their role dependant on their skills, experience and areas of interest. The dietitian can be based in any county of the Health Board but will have a strong link to the central paediatric dietetic hub in Glangwili hospital, Carmarthen.

Main duties of the job
Autonomously manages a caseload of children and young people with varied and complex needs including diabetes, providing expert nutrition and dietetic care across pathways with a focus on person centred, and outcome driven dietetics.
Uses specialist dietetic knowledge and skills: assessing, planning, implementing treatment and delivering dietetic interventions in a variety of settings including community, outpatient, and hospital and group settings in line with the needs of the patient, their family and carers.
Provides education, training and expert support to develop the diet and nutrition knowledge and skills of others’ working with children, young people and families.
Contributes to the work of dietetic and children’s services, actively participating in development, evaluation and improvement work, and the implementation of policy, guidance and standards.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Degree in Dietetics
- HCPC registration
- Specialist clinical knowledge of paediatric dietetics demonstrated through completed training and development to post graduate diploma level or equivalent demonstrable clinical experience
- Completed Clinical Supervisory Skills training or equivalent.
- Knowledge of, and ability to apply evidence-base to inform paediatric dietetic care
- Working knowledge of professional and clinical guidance and policy relevant to paediatric dietetics.
- Knowledge of quality improvement methodology in practice.
Desirable criteria
- Completed the BDA Paediatric modules, or equivalent accredited training.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in paediatric dietetics within NHS or other similar healthcare setting
- Consolidated and broad dietetic experience managing a complex and varied clinical dietetic caseload using established clinical reasoning
- Planning and delivery of clinical knowledge-based dietetic and nutrition education and training.
- Participation in project / quality improvement / development / clinical audit work, with demonstrable outcomes
- Experience of involvement in Student training.
- Interpreting evidence into clinical practice.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of providing clinical supervision.
- Delegation to unregistered staff.
- Member of a professional network or specialist group
- Experience of working with children and young people with diabetes.
