Are you ready to take your career to the next level within a dynamic and forward-thinking sonography service? We’re seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sonographer with excellent communication abilities to deliver top-quality care to our patients and support the development of our trainees.
Based within the Radiology department at Withybush General Hospital in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire; our service performs a comprehensive range of ultrasound investigations using state-of-the-art equipment, with all systems recently upgraded. Applicants must be a Registered Health Professional with an appropriate post graduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound and evidence of relevant experience. There may be a requirement to work flexible hours to meet service demands.

Main duties of the job
- Be responsible for scanning patients and producing independent reports of these scans in line with departmental guidelines;
- Take an active role in teaching and practical training of student Sonographers and others in training;
- Participate in the audit and clinical governance programs with the department;
- To communicate with patients, their relatives, and others about the purpose of the examinations and the scan results (in line with departmental guidelines).
- To develop ones own skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of others, identifying any training needs to the Lead Sonographer;
- To plan and prioritise ones own workload and that of that area to ensure the efficient flow of work, keeping waiting times to a minimum whilst maintaining a high standard of service delivery.

Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent diploma
- Case Accredited post graduate certificate or diploma at masters level in Ultrasound
- HCPC, RCT or registration with relevant professional body eg:NMC, RCN, RCM
- Sound Professional knowledge of imaging modalities (Eg ANC/TV scanning, Non-obstetric scanning)
- Evidence of current CPD portfolio
Desirable criteria
- Highly specialist training in aspects of ultrasound
- Developed knowledge of a specialised ultrasound imaging e.g. Small parts or vascular
Experience
Essential criteria
- Post registration professional experience in a diagnostic ultrasound imaging
Desirable criteria
- Experience of specialist ultrasound imaging techniques
- Experience with digital/PACS enabled ultrasound equipment.
Other
Essential criteria
- Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner
- Flexible approach to needs of the service
