We will consider both fixed and flexible GP sessions between 08:00-22:00.
The post holder will deliver clinical care and work with the current UTC team, UTC Clinical Lead, Directorate Manager and Service Manager to deliver an effective service that provides, safe and high-quality care. The post/s are an excellent opportunity to join an Urgent Treatment Centre team which is in a stage of additional investment, and work within the healthcare system of a busy district general hospital.
The posts/sessions are offered on a full/part time and sessional basis. The successful applicant/s must have full registration with the GMC and continue to hold a licence to practice. Applicants must also be on the GP Register or be within six months of obtaining their Certificate of Completion of Training.
Main duties of the job
Please see JD for full details, the post holder will be expected to:
- Provide complete consultations with assessment, treatment, and management of patients of all ages presenting with urgent primary care problems at the UTC.
- To be responsible for prioritisation and timeliness of all consultations.
- To be flexible, responsive, resilient, and self-motivated and understand the needs of modern primary care ways-of-working to maximise effective and efficient care.
- To complete coding requirements in line with the Trust requirements
- To be confident identifying patients who do not require treatment in the UTC and identifying those who require inpatient or more specialist treatment and referring them appropriately.
- Promote integrated team-working and liaison with the Emergency Department to support referrals to specialties where appropriate, including community services.
- To give education to patients on healthy living and disease prevention.
- To give education to patients on appropriate use of NHS services.
- To work within the prescribing formulary taking account of the minimum recommended length of prescribed treatment.
- To adopt a reflective approach to clinical practice, to report all incidents and work with the team to investigate.
- To be responsible to the employing Trust and subject to the NHS Complaints Procedure.
- To follow the Countess of Chester’s child safeguarding and vulnerable adults’ policy.
Working for our organisation
The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership. Its services are provided from three locations:
- The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 438 general and acute beds
- Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 56 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility
- Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.
The Trust employs over 5916 staff (headcount) which includes temporary bank staff and provides acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services and obstetric services to a population of approximately 411,000. This includes 361,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire which has a population of approximately 50,000.
