There are opportunities to practice as an Independent Non-Medical Prescriber. 

Main duties of the job

Leads the pharmacy elements of providing a service to dermatology patients of MCHFT, including:

  • Assessment of prescriptions against clinical criteria.
  • Supporting patients and their carers in respect of their medication.
  • Development of regimens, protocols, policies and drug monographs.
  • Developing safe processes for Medicines Management documentation.
  • Advanced Clinical Practice provision for dermatology patients.
  • Development and maintenance of prescription and treatment record systems.
  • Involvement in the development of electronic prescribing and administration system(s) for MCHFT.
  • Independent prescribing of dermatology medications including conventional and biological DMARDs for rheumatology patients when independent prescribing qualification achieved.
  • Advises medical, nursing and other staff on the efficient prescribing, administration, storage and security of medicines.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings as appropriate.
  • Supports Divisional pharmacists in the provision of information on the use of dermatology medicines, including interpretation of drug usage and expenditure reports.

  • Vocational Masters degree in Pharmacy and Registration with GPhC
  • Post graduate dipolma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience
