Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the delivery of key transformation projects within the trusts Clinical Support Services team.  The role will play a key role in supporting the progression of transformational opportunities across the service.  The post holder will lead projects, develop excellent relationships with key stakeholders and support the development and implementation of changes.

This role would be ideal for an individual with an understanding of service/quality improvement methodology and delivering projects within a healthcare setting.  Excellent communication, well developed analytical and organisational skills will be required together with a methodical approach to delivery of key objectives and the ability to engage and motivate others.

Main duties of the job

To provide leadership to allocated projects and services within sphere of responsibility.

To be responsible for the planning and delivery of services in conjunction with the Directorate Management Team.

To be a key member of the operational management team, taking full responsibility for actions and for keeping other team members fully informed at all times.

To provide programme and/or project management support to complex redesign programmes.

To lead and support quality improvement and transformation within operational services by developing, structuring and ensuring delivery of programmes of work and projects.

To be responsible for a person-centred service that is responsive, flexible and adaptable.

To work closely with key stakeholders including specialty teams, clinicians and support services to develop services and deliver project plans.

To embed quality improvement methodology within the Directorate.

To provide support to Operational Managers as required.

To attend meetings as required and to deputise for the Operational Teams as appropriate.

To take a proactive role in ensuring systems are in place to support organisational and cultural change initiatives.

To support delivery of the transformation agenda, delivering improvements to Directorate performance and allocation of project resource.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Degree level or evidence of sound intellectual ability and ongoing personal development
  • Recognised post-graduate management qualification or equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Lean practitioner
  • Prince2 practitioner

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of managing within an NHS healthcare setting.
  • Broad knowledge of NHS Information and IT systems.
  • Experience of dealing with difficult operational issues.
  • Understanding of service/quality improvement methodology and project delivery in health care.
  • Understands and is able to interpret national policy in relation to access, targets and performance and translate to the local level.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams including medical staff.
  • Experience and commitment to quality, innovation, productivity and prevention.
  • Staff and budget management experience.
  • Experience of personal accountability for service delivery.
  • Experience of working in an evolving and unpredictable environment
