Job overview

We are looking for proactivepositiverespectfulsupportivereliable and trustworthy people to join our team as Clinical Support Workers on Ward 1 at East Cheshire NHS Trust.

If you are enthusiastic and dedicated to delivering high quality holistic care to our patients,  we want to hear from you.

The role exists to provide a multi-skilled worker who, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse/Midwife, supports the Multidisciplinary Team with clinical and nonclinical practices in order to provide excellent patient centered care.

You will be required to successfully complete the Care Certificate within 3 months of starting in post.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Clinical Support Worker is to support the Nurse in the delivery of high quality, evidence-based, holistic patient care.

The role of a Clinical Support Worker is to support our Staff Nurses in delivering high quality patient care by attending to aspects of patient personal hygiene, supporting patients to access appropriate nutrition, providing bowel and bladder care and maintaining patient privacy and dignity at all times.

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience of time management
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience within healthcare / care setting
  • Competence in the recording of clinical sign observations

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of principles of effective customer care
  • Demonstrates good insight into roles and responsibilities of the post
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of quality care
  • Good verbal and non-verbal communication skills; especially with people with varying levels of understanding
  • Demonstrates good literacy and written skills
  • Able to present factual information and refer to questions to others where appropriate
  • Able to deal with sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy
  • Basic IT skills e.g use of e-mails

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of general education including literacy and numeracy
  • Care Certificate or working towards, this must be completed within first 3 months of employment
  • Pass in GSCE’s in Maths and English (4/C or above) or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 2 in direct care/customer services or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Successful completion of the Be AWARE to care course or equivalent
