Job overview

**This position is open to staff working at the Trust in the ‘ECT Family’ this includes current East Cheshire NHS Trust employees, both NHSP and ECT bank staff, ISS staff and volunteers at the Trust. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from applicants not listed within these groups.**

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a secondment in the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) at Macclesfield Hospital. We are inviting applications for Band 5 experienced nurses who are seeking to expand their knowledge and skills within the Medical Assessment Unit.

The Medical Assessment Unit is a busy, thriving department but rewarding where you will surrounded by friendly and supportive colleagues in an environment that encourages new ideas, innovation and personal development.

We expect exemplary communication skills both verbal and written. Above all else quality patient care needs to be your priority at all times.

What we can offer?

  • Possibilities of long-term career progression within the Department with plans to develop pathways to the role of Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP)
  • Funded training for courses such as Advanced Life Support (ALS)

Hours per week: 30.00

Main duties of the job

The role of a Staff Nurse is to support in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of high quality nursing care. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the staff nurse will ensure patients receive the highest level of care, delivered using a holistic, patient-focused approach, while ensuring high standards of documentation are maintained.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Current First Level Registration in General/Adult Nursing
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of higher education, i.e Degree, Diploma.
  • Evidence of relevant post registration education within relevant area. Willingness to undertake further study/development

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates a high standard of clinical practice in appropriate field.
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and action.
  • Ability to delegate safely Ability to recognise own sphere of competence and escalate appropriately
Desirable criteria
  • Competent information technology/word processing skills
  • Commitment to achieving service line, Trust and National objectives.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience as a staff nurse, within appropriate field and can demonstrate clinical credibility within this field.
  • Experience of mentoring and educating junior members of staff
  • Experience of using a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in implementing improvements in practice/protocol or procedures.
  • Experience in designing and delivering education to junior colleagues.
