Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-motivated doctor to fill a part-time Trust Grade Registrar post in Urology with an immediate start date.
Although this is not a recognised training post, the post-holder will benefit from the terms and conditions of a Trust Grade Registrar post as well as benefitting from various department and Trust wide teaching and training opportunities.
The Urology department at the South Tees trust works as a hub and spoke model. This post is based in the Darlington memorial hospital. A full range of diagnostic services are provided including 2 week rule clinics for prostate cancer and haematuria clinics. There may be a requirement to travel to alternative sites.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Expertise and Patient Care: The Trust Grade Registrar will play a key role in delivering efficient and high-quality care to patients with urological conditions. This role is under the expert guidance and supervision of our Consultant Urologists.
Inpatient Ward Responsibilities: Although we do not have regular inpatients at the Darlington memorial hospital you will be involved with occasional calls from the ward to sort out inpatients in other departments with urological problems when needed and available.
Outpatient Clinics: You will conduct outpatient clinics, offering you a platform to apply your diagnostic skills and manage a broad range of urological conditions.
Clinical Procedures: In addition to the above, your clinical responsibilities will include performing Flexible Cystoscopies. There will be an opportunity to perform transperineal biopsies with training at a later date.
Theatre Assistance: Your role will involve assisting with a variety of surgical procedures, both in our main theatres and the day unit with opportunities in the future to perform independent minor surgery.
Induction and Training: To ensure familiarity with departmental protocols and practices, you will attend a local induction upon commencement of duties in a new department.
