Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Radiology department at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a Band 7 Sonographer to work within the fantastic ultrasound team where a variety of work is undertaken. We provide ultrasound scans in the following areas: general, vascular, musculoskeletal, interventional and paediatrics. 

There will be an expectation of collaborative working across the Tees Valley. The successful candidate will join the ultrasound rota for STHFT and work across all ultrasound service sites. Successful candidates will be an employee of South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and managed as per the governance arrangements currently in place for Radiology and the organisation.

Main duties of the job

The Radiology Department has multiple ultrasound scanners on several sites including The James Cook University Hospital. Friarage Hospital,  One Life,  Redcar Primary Care, Guisborough and Stockton sites.  A weekend service is also provided at James Cook site currently.

Essential criteria
  • To have evidenced experience within ultrasound imaging areas
  • Computer Literacy
  • Manual Handling Skills- of patients and equipment

Knowledge and skills

Essential criteria
  • Experience in a wide range of ultrasound examinations
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Independent reporting skills
  • Evidence of active CPD
  • Understanding of the role and responsibilities of the post
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of developing working relationships
  • Experience of clinical audit and research
  • Knowledge of service improvement

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma in Medical Ultrasound
  • HCPC registration or other relevant regulatory body
Desirable criteria
  • Attendance at the leadership and development and improvement programme (4.5 days)
  • Masters in Medical Ultrasound
