We are looking for an energetic and motivated individual who genuinely has a desire to work in the speciality of Infection Prevention and Control and community care Home/ Domiciliary care. You must be passionate about staff and resident safety, enthusiastic about exploring new ways of working and a team player, to help us deliver our overall Healthcare Associated Infection improvement strategy at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are a small team with a supportive administration team providing a 5 -day service to residential/nursing care facilities and domiciliary/day centre facilities across Middlesbrough, Redcar-Cleveland

Main duties of the job

Your duties will include; delivery and administration of training to support Care facilities within Middlesbrough, Redcar-Cleveland, data collection and surveillance and reporting to ensure a robust and safe workstream for the staff and ultimately residents safety.
In return you will be joining a team who are committed to supporting you in your development, providing you with the knowledge and skills to undertake your role.

The successful applicant will receive a 4-week induction period and be supported in the use of core competencies to assess knowledge and skills as part of their continuous professional development in this field.

Leadership and Improvement Training

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills.  You will be expected to attend the New and Aspiring leaders programme, and the Foundation Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. After you complete this one and a half day of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Level 2 in Maths and English
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health or Social Care (Level 3 Diploma in Health Care)
  • Completion of the Core Competency pack
  • TAQA – Modules from Training, Assessment and Quality Assurance or equivalent.
  • Foundation Degree.
Desirable criteria
  • Attendance at foundation improvement training and the new and aspiring leaders program within first year of role
  • Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication and listening skills and adopts an appropriate style and method of communication.
  • Ability to present written information clearly.
  • Ensure compliance with confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to work effectively and co-ordinate and prioritise workload without direct supervision.
  • Intermediate level information technology skills e.g. Microsoft Office, database entry.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and experience on patient safety practices.
  • Demonstrate skills of infection prevention and control practices and act as a professional role model.
  • Previous experience of working in health and/or social care.
