An opportunity has arisen for a Community Associate Director of Nursing at University Hospital Tees (UHT)

The community associate director of nursing will be part of a triumvirate team and will be jointly accountable for developing the longer-term strategic direction of the community clinical service unit in partnership with the service director and associate director of operations, providing clinical expertise. The post holder will work within the community clinical service unit across UHT group ensuring safe, high-quality care and developing the workforce requirements in line with the expectations of the 10-year plan to support effective pathways to facilitate patient care closer to home.

As a key professional leader the associate director of nursing will:

  1. provide strategic and operational direction to all nurses within the clinical service unit
  2. be responsible for providing the fundamentals of care to a high standard
  3. be accountable for safe staffing and ensure robust risk management and governance arrangements are in place
  4. Develop and lead workforce transformation to enable effective pathways of care closer to home

Successful candidate must have access to a vehicle for work purposes to meet the requirements of the role.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an integral part of the organisation’s senior nursing team working with other associate directors of nursing, heads of nursing, deputy directors of nursing, the director of nursing and the executive chief nursing officer.

For the associate director of nursing post, we are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, values driven nurse with excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to drive integrated services, who is passionate about community care.

Further developing a safety first – caring better together culture at University Hospitals Tees.

Interviews will take place Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th November.

  • • Registered Nurse
  • • First Degree in Nursing / health related subject
  • • Master’s level qualification in health or leadership-related subject
  • • Leadership qualification
Desirable criteria
  • • PhD/Doctorate or working towards

Knowledge & Experience

  • • Significant clinical leadership experience
  • • Significant experience of working at a senior level in a complex environment
  • • Ability for complex decision making
  • • Experience of leading service evaluation, audit, or research
  • • Development and delivery of strategies
  • • Effective in organisational and planning skills to meet deadlines
  • • Ability to prioritise a complex workload and work independently in a rapidly changing environment
  • • Experience of working within an accreditation programme
  • • Ability to provide and receive highly complex, sensitive, or contentious information
Desirable criteria
  • • Presentations at regional, national, international level
