Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated senior nurse who can demonstrate the ability to lead and motivate staff.

Main duties of the job

You will be a team player with good communication and organisational skills along with clinical management experience. You will have a positive can do attitude and always strive for the best for your patients and wider working team.

You will have the ability to engage clinically with all members of the multi-disciplinary team. You will have in depth proven clinical knowledge guiding the clinical team to work within this framework and dermatology pathways. You will be expected to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to sensitively manage change.

The post holder will be expected to have responsibility for the department in the absence of the department manager, both at The James Cook University Hospital and the One Life. You provide professional clinical leadership, advice, and guidance for the team, supporting the manager. You will need to have problem solving skills and be able to enhance patient pathways with innovation / improvements based on current research / guidance.

Main duties would be leading a team and overseeing the day to day running and triaging of patients through the specialist skin service 
 
The ideal candidate would have experience in the following areas: 
scrub nurse
punch biopsy, shave excisions, curettage and cautery 
consenting patients
knowledge of system one
However this is not essential as on the job training can be provided

  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing
  • Current NMC Registration
Desirable criteria
  • Recognisable teaching qualification

Experience

  • Experience working within and acute or community setting
  • Experience of Multi-disciplinary working
  • Experience in Dermatology
Desirable criteria
  • previous experience as a clinical sister
