An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Paediatric Trauma Rehabilitation Co-ordinator within The Regional Major Trauma Centre at The James Cook University Hospital.   Rehabilitation is a critical component of the Trauma Care Pathway.  The post holder will provide clinical input and act as a point of contact (key worker) for paediatric patients and relatives after major trauma.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the Major Trauma rehabilitation services for paediatric patients within South Tees. This post helps to facilitate a more holistic patient-centred approach to the rehabilitation process and improve long-term outcomes.

Main duties of the job

To work within the MTC Trauma coordinators, adult Rehabilitation Coordinators, Consultants, therapy teams and other medical and nursing staff to support the patient and families’ journey through the clinical pathway, providing continuity and advocacy of the patient and their families’ rehabilitation needs.

 To work with the Trauma Coordinators, Admin and Clinical Teams to identify patients, who need a rehabilitation prescription and to have input into the Rehabilitation Prescription process with the clinical teams, using knowledge of the patient, their family and social circumstances to aid assessment of their rehabilitation needs.

To liaise with health professionals in other parts of the patient pathway including community therapy teams, GPs, District Nurses, schools, school nurses, social services, other hospital trusts, voluntary and independent sector organisations as needed

To provide clinical input to the most complex patients and support to the clinical teams involved.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • BSC or Diploma in appropriate profession
  • HCPC registered
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification or working towards MSc
  • Leadership Training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working with paediatric patients following major trauma.
  • Evidence of working within a multidisciplinary team with clear understanding of other disciplines’ roles and expectations.
  • Evidence of relevant post graduate CPD
  • Experience of working at a senior level in a leadership position
Desirable criteria
  • • Member of professional body
  • • Member of Specific Interest Group
  • • Experience working at Band 6 level or equivalent

Knowledge and skills

Essential criteria
  • Extensive theoretical knowledge and applied clinical practice in a broad range of trauma
  • Evidence of MDT working
