Clinical Support Worker (Dietetics & Home Enteral Feeding)
37.5 hours per week (part-time working may be considered)
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised person, with excellent communication skills, to join our team based at The James Cook University Hospital site.
This is a busy role so candidates will need to be highly motivated and have a flexible approach to their role to ensure the needs of the service are met. You will need to be able to work under pressure using your own initiative.
Successful candidates must have:
3 A-levels OR Health and Science T-level OR equivalent level 3 qualification(s) and Functional Skills (level 2) OR
As a level 3 apprenticeship, such as the Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship (or other level 3 qualification pathway)
AND/OR
Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties
AND/OR
- Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3;
- Theoretical knowledge
- Experience of a range of care and related procedures
- clinical observations
- knowledge of relevant legislation
This role supports an already established team of dietitians and discharge coordinator who manage patients who are tube fed at home
Main duties of the job
Working within defined scope of practice and service guidelines, key aspects of this role will include:
· assessing the nutritional needs of non-complex adult patients with a range of medical conditions,
· devising programmes of dietetic care under dietetic supervision,
· monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of dietary intervention and providing regular feedback to the supervising dietitian.
· Supporting team with the discharge and ongoing administrative management of patients how are fed via a feeding tube in the community
· Liaising with dietitians, community staff, home enteral feeding company, ward staff daily
It is vital that you have strong and confident communication skills when liaising with patients, carers and relatives and other health care professional and the ability to develop good working relationships with a wide range of professionals working across health and social care. This post also offers exciting opportunities for continued development in a well-established service.
We are part of the South Tees Nutrition and Dietetic service working across The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland community, Friarage Hospital Northallerton and Hambleton & Richmond community.
