Exciting opportunity to join the Respiratory Sleep Medicine Service at South Tees.
We are looking for a skilled professional to join an innovative team in delivering excellent care to patients requiring Non Invasive Ventilation with CPAP/BiPAP.
The candidate will be a registered nurse or physiologist with an interest in Respiratory Sleep Medicine
This post is a specialist practitioner working as part of a multidisciplinary team in Respiratory Sleep Medicine.
The post holder will maintain and actively contribute to the delivery of excellent patient care to our service users.
The post holder will contribute to the further growth and development of Respiratory Sleep services to improve the quality of care for service users.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work autonomously; clinically assessing new patients across inpatient and outpatient areas, in order to initiate new patients onto Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy or Bilevel positive airway pressure (Bipap) utilising local protocols, evidenced based clinical criteria, and national guidelines.
The post holder will provide review clinics; analysing remote monitoring systems for all patient groups including some complex patients referred from specialist areas i.e. Bariatric services, adapting treatment regimens/prescriptions as appropriate to optimise therapy usage, whilst promoting self-care management with advice to ensure efficient and effective service provision through support and symptom recognition.Following discussion with senior staff and medics the post holder will refer for further related diagnostic procedures, intervention in treatment pathways or discharge from treatment.
The post holder will have a good knowledge and understanding of a range of respiratory conditions and services to support or signpost other HCPs effectively providing a specialist service for patients with OSA and other conditions requiring Continuous Positive Airway Pressure, Non-Invasive Ventilation and where appropriate Adaptive-servo Ventilation. Prior knowledge and experience of Non-Invasive Ventilation and Adaptive-servo Ventilation is desirable.
The post holder will deliver this role across Hospital Tees sites as required.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Have significant experience in a nursing or science based clinical area.
- Be able to indicate ongoing professional development and up to date clinical practice in the fields of respiratory and/or sleep physiology.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse or ARTP registered physiologist (Respiratory or Sleep)
- Qualified to BSc in an appropriate field relevant to the area of specialism.
