Job overview
The James Cook University Hospital is seeking to appoint an Obstetric Consultant with an interest in Fetal Medicine to join the friendly, dynamic, and forward-thinking Obstetric team. The post attracts 10 PAs, and the applicant will be expected to provide care at both the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton.
The James Cook University Hospital is a large teaching hospital in Teesside which provides care to women across the Tees Valley on two sites. We are a training centre for advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery in endometriosis. In addition we provide tertiary centre care for Gynaecological Oncology, a regional centre for complex Maternal / Fetal and Neonatal Care, Reproductive Gynaecology, and has BSUG accreditation for Urogynaecology and will be applying for SST status for urogynaecology in 2024.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a full-time appointment (10 PAs) to complement the Obstetric team and contribute to the further development of our services. The post holder is expected to take part in the on-call rota, and those with a special interest in Fetal Medicine and high-risk pregnancies are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Part 3 MRCOG completed
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- Primary medical qualification recognised by the GMC
- Evidence Benign Gynaecology ATSM/SITM completion
Desirable criteria
- Postgraduate degree
- Certification of previous robotic training
Clinical experience and effectiveness
Essential criteria
- Clinical training and experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology or equivalent to that required for a UK CCT
- Evidence of clinical audit
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of research and innovative service developments

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
