Staff Nurse Children's Community and SEND School Nursing Team

Although you will be working 37.5 hours per week during term time, you will be paid at 32.25 hours per week for the full year including during time not working.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic motivated Children's Nurse to join our team working in the Children's Community and SEND School Nursing Team. Within the role you would be working autonomously providing care to children with additional health needs in a community setting, predominantly in the SEND school's.
We are a small Children's Community Nursing Team and follow the Trust values & beliefs of being supportive, respectful and caring. The school Nursing team work collaboratively within the Children's Community Nurses, Specialist nurses both in the Trust and in other Trusts, Paediatricians and GP's to provide high quality care to those on our caseload.

Job Summary/Purpose:
- To provide the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without direct supervision within the Children’s Services.
- To provide skilled nursing support to enable children with complex health needs to access educational opportunities
- Work alone within the special school providing care as per health plan, dispense medication, and support with any emergency situation
- To offer training and support to education and social care staff specific to the health needs of the individual child / young person.
- To care for children, and their families, with a wide range of health needs, who require clinical care and support in the home, and other community settings.
- It is essential that the post holder is sensitive to the emotional needs of children who have a life threatening illness, and complex health needs, and are technology dependent.
- To deliver the above will require a specific understanding and knowledge base of child health needs, community based care and an understanding of the basic principles of palliative care.
- It is essential that applicants have recent experience in acute paediatric nursing to ensure they have developed those skills required to nurse sick children, and to work as an autonomous practitioner
Successful candidate must have access to a vehicle for work purposes to meet the requirements of the role.
