Please note this is a professional post starting as a Band 2 and moving to a Band 3 on completion of training. 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer – Homecare, to join the dedicated team delivering the Homecare medicines service from the Pharmacy department at South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust.

You will be based with the other members of the Pharmacy Homecare team at The Friarage Hospital (FHN), Northallerton.

You will work alongside the Specialist Homecare Pharmacy Technician and the Medicines Optimisation and Homecare Pharmacist to process prescriptions and invoices associated with Pharmacy Homecare. Pharmacy Homecare at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a rapidly expanding area with the team providing services for a wide range of disease conditions, to over 4,000 patients.

You will be expected to have experience of dispensing to NVQ L2 standard, have knowledge of a broad range of drugs and be familiar with pharmacy law and professional practice from either hospital or community setting. Previous experience of Pharmacy Homecare, invoice processing and use of spreadsheets is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will work full time hours 08.30-17:00 Monday – Friday. 

Weekend working once every 5 weeks Saturday (9.00-13.30) and Sunday (9.00-12.00), reimbursed with a full weekday off the following week.

Would be expected to contribute to bank holiday working rota.

Main duties of the job

The busy pharmacy department at South Tees, covering the 2 hospital sites of James Cook Hospital and Friarage Hospital, has a team of 200 staff including clinical pharmacists, technicians and support staff providing medicines management, dispensing, and logistic services to the general and specialist areas of both hospital sites and several community hospitals.
