Senior Occupational Therapist (Social Care)

37.5 Hours per week fixed term (or secondment for Group internal staff - if applying as secondment, ensure you have manager authorisation)

 The successful applicants will join the well established Adult and Children Social care team in Redcar and Cleveland Council.

The focus of the Occupational Therapy service is to promote the independence of adults and children through assessment, specialist advice, equipment and adaptations, working with a wide range of internal and external partners.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Occupational Therapy team. We harness a Reablement and Independence approach to improving the lives of adults, children, and their carers; and we are dedicated to ensuring we deliver the best service to those who need our help. We have flexible working arrangements to ensure our staff have a good work-life balance. A Mixture of working from home and the office

Continuing professional development is actively encouraged and regular support and supervision will be provided by a  Assistant Team lead/Band 7 Occupational therapist within the team. Participation in service developments and clinical governance is also expected, for which there is excellent support throughout the integrated OT service to help you develop.

As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist within the Trust the postholder will also be part of the wider Integrated OT service. This is a unique partnership between Health and Social care in South Tees with a commitment to working together, improving the quality of our services and getting rid of existing barriers between health and social services.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in the country, close to the North Yorkshire Moors and within easy reach of Newcastle and Leeds. It comprises two acute hospitals, The James Cook University Hospital and Friarage Hospital Northallerton and a number of community hospitals and community services. 

 We are looking for a highly motivated occupational therapists with excellent communication and organisational skills. You will need to be able to work as part of a team and on your own, frequently using your own initiative. You will often work with a wide multidisciplinary team and be involved with clients with a range of multiple medical, social and emotional problems. The role will  include carrying out assessments with patients in their own homes, therefore, the ability to travel independently is an essential part of this job.

After you complete these six and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities. We also offer a range of additional in-house and externally provided courses and bitesize programmes through our Leadership and Improvement Team

  • To demonstrate analytical skills and judgement when dealing with the complex clients
