Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join our well-established team.  This post offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and to develop new models of care and services that support all patients attending the hospital and within the local community.

This is a full time (10 PA) Locum Consultant Dermatologist post. The main aims of the post are to provide dermatological care for patients in Cornwall and to progress a sub- specialty interest to complement the team.  This post involves seeing two week wait and inflammatory patients. 

Cornwall is famous as a beautiful county and a fabulous place to live. To be able to combine this whilst working in an innovative department with huge opportunities for professional and service development is relatively unique.

Main duties of the job

  • Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of Dermatology patients.
  • To share with colleague’s responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Dermatology Department.
  • Teaching and training of junior staff and medical students where
  • To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
  • To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit.
  • To attend meetings as needed
  • Fulfil duties of weekly timetable including any out-of-hours
  • Sustainability is integral to the Trust achieving the NHS Net Zero target. All staff are therefore actively encouraged and supported to implement new ways of working within their field of expertise.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GMC Registration with a Full licence to Practice
  • MRCP (UK) or equivalent qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Attended appropriate Training courses
  • An appropriate higher degree (MD, PhD or equivalent).
  • GMC Specialist Register

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Wide experience in all aspects of Dermatology.
  • Teaching (Medical students, peers, MDT)
  • Experienced in Clinical Audit and Clinical Governance
Desirable criteria
  • To provide a range of services to compliment the current skill mix of the department.
  • Mohs / Surgical Fellowship.
