Job overview

The post holder will be responsible for assisting the Practice Education Facilitators (PEF’s) in the provision of high quality multi-professional learning environments within University Hospital of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and will be required to work across the Morecambe Bay footprint, acute and community services where inter-professional learning opportunities can be promoted.

This will be achieved through visiting clinical areas where you will support Practice Assessors & Practice Supervisors & Educators with the learning needs of students.

This vacancy is open to all AHP and NMC registered professionals.

Band 6 position

Main duties of the job

Working under guidance from the PEF Team, the PEF Associate will support to do the following;

•    Support practice supervisors/assessors/Educators in clinical practice with the learning and development needs for students.

•    To offer support & guidance to learners & practice assessors/practice supervisors/Educators as issues arise.

•    To offer hands on support & guidance regarding HEE/HEI student assessment tools (e.g. PARE online), to learners & practice assessors/practice supervisors/Educators.

•    To support practice supervisors/practice assessors/Educators in situations where learners are not able to meet their competencies; assist practice supervisors/assessors/Educators with learners with individual learning plans or failing students in supporting action plans.

•    To promote effective communication between academic assessors, module leaders and placement areas.

•    To support clinical staff to assess the quality of practice learning environments; ensuring all service areas/placement providers have up to date placement profiles/audits in place to contribute to quality monitoring.

•    To support learners to ensure that they are given every opportunity to develop their competence.

•    To promote effective communication between learners, clinical staff, HEE & partner universities.

•    Identify and highlight any issues or concerns which may impact against national standards such as Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC), Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Health Education England (HEE).

 

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. 

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. 

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. 

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

  • Professional health care qualification, to a minimum of degree level, with up to date professional registration.
