We are looking for an individual to work within the Coastal community nurse team at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust working across the beautiful Teignmouth, Dawlish and surrounding areas.

We are looking for someone with excellent skills and knowledge to provide a podiatry service to the housebound patients of the Coastal locality.

Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team and highly developed clinical skills are essential. You will be working closely with wider podiatry services to provide a great, seamless service to the population.

Main duties of the job

  • Be responsible for the management of a caseload of high risk patients, providing a comprehensive assessment of podiatric need, relevant health education and referral to other health care professionals as required.
  • The main duties of this post are to act as the Clinical Specialist Podiatrist in the field of Diabetes and wound care within the community nursing team and as part of our Multi-disciplinary Team.
  • Carry out home visits for housebound patients

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Registered Podiatrist with Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Degree/ Diploma in Podiatric Medicine.
  • Post-graduate qualifications in diabetes or diabetes module.
  • Mentorship qualification.
  • Certificate in administration of local anaesthetic.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the clinical governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate an active involvement in research.
  • Clinical audit or other quality issue.
  • Demonstrate advanced clinic reasoning skills in a wide variety of highly complex clinical situations.
  • Candidates should be adept in the use of equipment Dopler, Neurotips, Monofilaments etc.
  • Excellent organisational skills are required in the management of caseloads and timetable.

Qualifications and training

Essential criteria
  • • Registered Podiatrist with Health and Care Professions Council
  • • BSc (Hons) Podiatry / Diploma in Chiropody/Podiatry
  • • Post graduate experience of diabetes wound management
  • • Certificate in administration of local anaesthetic
Desirable criteria
  • • Prescribing qualification either independent or supplementary
  • • Post-graduate qualification in diabetes wound management or diabetes module
  • • IRMER Certificate
  • • Mentorship qualification

  • • Knowledge of developing, auditing, monitoring and evaluating protocols/guidelines and procedures
  • • Ability to disseminate information on specialist area to departmental staff and other health care professionals via presentations and newsletters

  • • Knowledge of Musculoskeletal interventions in the prevention of foot ulceration
