Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Emergency Department team as an ED Administrator.

The ED Administrator team work flexibly across the department on a fully rotational 24 hour rota which include days, nights, weekends and bank holidays as required. 

The successful candidate will embark on a full training plan and will be mentored throughout.

Main duties of the job

Provide a positive and approachable Reception service to all patients arriving at the Emergency Department.

Assist the Nurse In Charge with the smooth flow of patients through the Emergency Department.

To ensure data entry into the IT systems is accurate.

Undertake a range of administrative / relevant duties for the Emergency Department

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE (or equivalent) to include English and Maths Grade C/4 or above
  • NVQ Level 3 in Administration or equivalent relevant experience
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL or alterative relevant IT qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Good understanding of office procedures and general clerical experience
  • Must be used to working in busy environment with a variety of different people
  • Previous experience of working as a receptionist or administrator dealing with general public / service users answering general queries
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in an Emergency Department

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good IT skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of IT systems Nervecentre, eSearcher & PAS
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
