The Perfusion Department at Castle Hill Hospital is pleased to announce an opening for a dedicated and experienced Clinical Perfusion Scientist who is keen to participate in all aspects of service delivery. We are seeking a candidate who demonstrates enthusiasm and expertise in the field. While our preference is to appoint at Band 8a, we are open to Band 7 applicants with a view to develop into an 8a.
Castle Hill Hospital, part of the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH), boasts comprehensive cardiothoracic facilities. Approx 700 cardiac and 700 diagnostic and major thoracic procedures are performed annually, encompassing elective, trauma, and emergency cases. These procedures are conducted within the hospital's three purpose-built, modern theatres, which are equipped with advanced technology.

Main duties of the job
As a Clinical Perfusion Scientist, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care, ensuring the safe and effective management of patients' physiological functions. You will be expected to deliver within the framework of a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with various healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
The candidate will provide Clinical Perfusion and specialist services as part of a team and must be fully registered with the College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists GB&I.
- Perform a range of highly specialist Perfusion science activities relating to cardiopulmonary bypass with special reference to clinical, technical and scientific aspects.
- Perform a wide range of complex blood coagulation assays and draw upon expert knowledge to interpret and report results to a wide scope of staff including Cardiologists, Cardiac Surgeons, Nursing staff, Physiology Technicians and ODPS.
- Capable of maintaining intense concentration for extended periods during routine and specialist perfusion techniques, especially while monitoring complex data during cardiopulmonary bypass.
- Actively adapts to the dynamic clinical environment, including unpredictable workloads, emergency procedures, deadlines, and critical situations.
The successful candidate will fully participate in the department's on-call rota, ensuring the smooth operation of a 24-hour service.

Qualifications/experience
Essential criteria
- Educated to Masters level or equivalent in Perfusion Science.
- Accredited by the Society of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of Great Britain and Ireland.
- Professional Registration with College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists Of Great Britain and Ireland.
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of Advanced Training in Perfusion Techniques.
- Able to teach and relate to different Staff Groups.
Skills
Essential criteria

- Good negotiation skills And ability to manage conflict.
