Our  Occupational Health Service within the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust are looking for Senior Occupational Health Nurse Advisers to join their multi-disciplinary team!

It is an exciting time to join our supportive, innovative, and flexible team of highly experienced Occupational Health Nurses.

Our busy clinics provide onsite OH services within the Trust as well as  small to medium sized private companies across Hull and East Yorkshire.

Main duties of the job

What is involved?

  • Acting autonomously and providing professional Occupational Health advice.
  • Undertaking clinical activities such as Vaccination clinics, Health Screening, Health surveillance work
  • Taking lead on Health promotion activities/presentations and initiatives.
  • Undertaking sickness absence case management. 
  • Acting as an advisory service in line with the Equality Act on Disability matters.
  • To ensure an effective employment screening service is in place which advises management and Human Resources of applicant's fitness for work

Essential criteria
  • NMC level one registration Evidence of on-going and continuous personal and profession development
  • Willingness to undertake OH specialist practitioner course (degree/masters level)
  • Experience of case management and report writing either an Occupational Health setting or in a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse role.
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal & electronic) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to demonstrate effective listening and counselling skills
  • Able to work autonomously and as a member of the team
  • Ability to produce detailed and accurate records and reports
  • Good IT Skills
  • Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and manage and organise own work load
  • Able to prioritise workload, achieving a balance between clinical work and other aspects of the post
  • Ability to work as and be part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Maintaining high standard of care respecting trust values
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of facilitating health promotion activities
  • Experience of working as a nurse in an Occupational Health Department
  • Competent to administer vaccinations and undertake venepuncture (with training if required)
  • Able to carry out a wide range of practical skills and interpret results including: Venepuncture Immunisations CPR/anaphylaxis treatment Spirometry Audiometry
  • Have a good working knowledge of immunisation programmes relevant to the NHS
  • Work Station Assessments MSD assessment and referral
