Job overview

Hull University Teaching Hospitals are seeking to recruit a Band 6 Senior Physiotherapist to join our diverse team of allied health professionals. The post holder will work gain experience working in a large busy acute teaching hospital Trust specifically within Stroke & Neurology

The post holders will work alongside colleagues to support the  7 day service in the speciality areas. As a Senior Physiotherapist you will deliver the assessment and treatment of patients who present with neurological conditions, delivering evidence based interventions to facilitate recovery, promote well-being and optimise independent functioning as far as reasonably possible in all areas of life

We are seeking skilled people who have proven NHS/UK experience, can adapt to changing environment and work well in a team. You will be expected to be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team and build clinical networks working in partnership with other agencies to identify and address the immediate and ongoing need.

 

Main duties of the job

This is a Senior Physiotherapist role that will align with Stroke & Neurology  specialty to provide essential physiotherapy services.

This is an ideal post for a Band 5 Physiotherapist with an interest in specialising within Stroke & Neurology, who has post-graduate UK experience and feels ready for the opportunity of the challenge of a senior position in a large, busy, acute hospital Trust. 

The post holder will be self motivated and aspirational, be able to assess in an effective and timely manner in a rapid paced environment.  Pathways will support early recognition of deterioration with appropriate escalation processes in place to maintain patient safety. 

Support will be provided to enhance operational management skills and the post holder will contribute to service planning, development and teaching. As a Senior Physiotherapist, the post holder will be a role model for their team and pride themselves on delivering high quality care and motivate their team to do the same.

The post holder will contribute to 7 day services, working patterns up to 8pm in some teams, and contribute to the Respiratory On-call Service.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Recognised qualification in Physiotherapy i.e. degree
  • HPC Registration
  • Driver with access to vehicle OR demonstrable means of independently travelling to patient's residences in the community.
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant post-graduate studies – i.e. recognised relevant accredited courses internal or external

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate a minimum of 12 months recent NHS experience
  • Evidence of clinical physiotherapy experience in acute hospital environment in the NHS/UK
  • Evidence of involvement in supporting other staff/students
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of completion of student educators course at a UK learning institution

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable knowledge of/skills in Physiotherapy practice in Neuro specialities
  • Evidence of achievement of relevant B5 core physiotherapy competencies in current role
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of achievement of Respiratory/on-call competencies in current/recent role
