Band 6

Job overview

Hull University Teaching Hospitals are seeking to recruit a Band 6 Senior Physiotherapist to work within the Active Together service which we intend to deliver from January 2026

NHS Humber Health Partnership are working in collaboration with Yorkshire Cancer Research to implement an Active Together model  for people diagnosed with cancer where the treatment has curative intent. The Active Together program will run alongside existing diagnostic and treatment pathways to ensure patients are optimally prepared for treatment and beyond. it aims to maximise resilience to treatment, improve longer term health, minimise side effect and empower patients to be partners in their healthcare. The program combines physical activity, nutrition support and psychological support alongside the clinical pathway.

The program is funded for 5 years initially and will have a staged implementation into all relevant cancer pathways commencing with colorectal and Upper GI tumor sites. Patients will receive individual assessment and be triaged into a support pathway suitable to their needs.

The Senior Physiotherapist will support the clinical lead & MDT in terms of developing a working model to ensure the delivery of services for cancer patients across our region, with the aim of improving treatment pathways, patient outcomes and overall experience.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate the therapy services provided to patients referred for pre-habilitation and rehabilitation. As a senior Physiotherapist you will have clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of cancer patients or cancer related conditions.

We are seeking an individual who can adapt to a changing environment and work well within a team. You will be expected to be an active member of the team and build social networks in partnership with other agencies to identify and address the immediate and long term needs of patients. A high level of interpersonal skill will be required.

These are ideal posts for Band 5 Physiotherapists who have post-graduate UK experience and feel ready for the opportunity of the challenge of a senior position.

The post holder will be self motivated and aspirational, be able to assess in an effective and timely manner.  Pathways will support early recognition of deterioration with appropriate escalation processes in place to maintain patient safety.
