Job overview
The post holder will be responsible to the Service Manager for Community Mental Health Services. The post holder will be responsible for the management of a clinical area, providing Leadership, supporting staff and working collaboratively with Consultants, Psychiatrist, other grades of Doctors, Allied Health Professionals and Social work Practitioners to provide and deliver a high quality and safe care. The post holder will demonstrate clinical thinking in the clinical decision making process, including joint working with the Multi-Disciplinary Team to meet the needs of the patients, and carers to ensure that they are working to EPUT Clinical Policies and Procedures/Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Practice and Standards.
Main duties of the job
To work with Primary Care Networks, Senior Managers, Essex County Council, Local Borough Council, specialist teams, voluntary agencies, Early Intervention Service, Inpatient Units, Assessment Unit, Crisis and Home Treatment Team and other Community Services in order to aid the Patient’s recovery and Well-being plans in the community and other key partners to identify the mental health needs of the locality in accordance with the Mental Health Policy Guidelines and local mental health strategy. To work collaboratively and in partnership with partners within the Primary Care Networks, specialist mental health services to ensure services provided are co-ordinated and focused on positive patient outcomes. To ensure safe Clinical Practice takes place and maintained to Care Quality Commission standards at all times and in line with the NHS Constitution.
To work in conjunction with the Consultant Psychiatrists, to ensure that patients are supported in the most appropriate clinical practice environment from Multi-disciplinary perspective.

Our EPUT NHS staff bank is an entity managed by the trust that hires clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals to take on shifts at our trust hospitals and community settings. Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.
All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To ensure that there are effective management arrangements of all components of post holders area of responsibility.
- To ensure appropriate financial controls are in place to manage the delegated budgets from EPUT and associated with area of responsibility.
- To supervise and manage in area of responsibility.
- To effectively communicate service related information to staff, EPUT, Local Authority partners, CCG Commissioners and other agencies.
- To monitor referrals, waiting times, workload and capacity within Health and Social Care Performance Frameworks.
- To provide and ensure the availability of specialist advice, support and consultation to staff within primary care services, outside teams and other agencies.
- Carry out complex investigations on behalf of EPUT, and support primary care networks partners in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Carry out investigations into complaints and liaise with complainants relating to primary care mental health serv9ices in the locality.
- To manage human resource related issues such as sickness absence and conduct and capabilities of area of responsibility in accordance with relevant agencies policies and procedures.

Registered Mental Health Nurse
Essential criteria
- Specialist knowledge in Mental Health
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge in managing SMHT
Qualified professional
Essential criteria
- 2 years leadership experience
- Studied at degree level or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Nurse prescriber
- Experience in delivering supervision
Mangerial Experience

- Full driving license
