Registered Nurse - TADSU/DSU

Band 5

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated band 5 staff Nurse to join our Day Surgery team rotating to work within the Theatre admission and Day Stay Unit A301, (TADSU) and The Day Surgery Unit B448, (DSU). 

These two units work together to provide high quality patient care for the patient undergoing both day and inpatient surgery across specialties which include urology, vascular, breast , general , plastic and burns, gynecology, head and neck, ophthalmology, ENT, maxilla Facial surgery and pain clinic.

This rotational post will involve the ideal candidate working with the surgical patient through the pre operative and post operative periods undertaking a nurse led admission and discharge role.

Currently the Day Surgery Unit B448 operates a 23 hour stay allowing patients to remain in hospital in a day surgery environment therefore this post may incorporate rotational nights which may suit some candidates.

TADSU is open fro 07:00 hours to 21:00 hours Monday to Friday excluding public holidays.

DSU is open 07:00hours Monday and closes at 15:00hours on a Saturday (This is currently under review), excluding public holidays.

The successful candidate will be expected to complete ward based competencies relevant to the day surgery patient pathway.

We are proactive in offering training and educational development which includes Preceptorship and on going training opportunities for newly qualified nurses.

There may be opportunities to rotate through the Day surgery Theatres undertaking competencies in the future.

Successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals, teams and departments while maintaining a professional, friendly character. A willingness to work across the areas is essential as well as flexibility to work within the department shift patterns which may include undertaking night duty according to the staff roster.
