Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.

 

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic, reliable and highly motivated individuals to join our busy Radiology department at Mid and South Essex University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, as a Band 3 imaging assistants.

You will be required to rotate through different areas of the department including CT, Ultrasound and MRI. You will also be required to rotate through our outlying Community Hospitals from time to time.  Staff are required to contribute to the 24hour service provided by the Radiology department.  Nights are worked on rotation within a group of 10 staff.

It is essential you enjoy working with people and has a genuine interest in patient care.

You must have excellent communication skills, work well as part of a team, but also have the ability to use your initiative and work individually. On the job training will be provided.

 

Main duties of the job

The role of an imaging assistant is a clinical role; they provide support to a variety of staff groups including consultant radiologists, sonographers and radiographers across all imaging modalities.

Duties involve assisting with minor sterile procedures, chaperoning, coordinating patient lists and preparing patients for their examinations.

Our imaging assistants are required to provide support for the extended working week, therefore a commitment to work evenings and weekends is expected as part of core hours or as additional out of hours.
