Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our therapy leadership team  of our intermediate care services based in South East Essex. We are looking for an individual who will bring commitment, innovation and determination to take forward our therapy services in new and innovative ways. In return we offer training and development, support through regular supervision and appraisal to assist you within your role. The post holder will have responsibility for the operational management of the therapists working within intermediate care, including aspects of budget, contract and business management. The teams consist of a number of the AHP disciplines including assistants and support staff.

The successful candidate will deliver the highest quality care for patients who are being treated within our intermediate care services; with a positive attitude and a commitment to maintain EPUT’s excellent customer care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a Senior Therapist who will be responsible for the leadership and management of all aspects of the therapy provided by Intermediate Care. This includes the monitoring and reporting of complex and sensitive information and the direct operational management of the staff within the teams. The post holder will provide expert knowledge and skills, working closely with the teams to ensure that the care provided is of a high quality, contributing to a positive patient experience that maximises independence and achieves appropriate and timely service provision.

You will be working with the teams on service development and transformation initiatives, be part of reviewing the effectiveness of provision, and engage in working together with other teams to consistently striving to improve Intermediate care services and partnership delivery.

You will need to have experience of leadership, management and development, preferably in a community setting. You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent risk assessment skills,
  • Communicate effectively, efficiently and timely both written and verbally and know when it is appropriate to hold meetings in person as opposed to utilising other forms of communication.
  • Demonstrate compassion, understanding, commitment, enthusiasm and above all be highly motivated and committed to AHP leadership and our workforce.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

·       To be responsible for the coordination of therapy staff across Intermediate care to ensure equity of therapy provision

·       Provide expert knowledge and skills to support the multi-disciplinary teams to facilitate effective patient rehabilitation across community Intermediate Care Services

·       To lead/assist in the management of complex discharges, as identified by the teams to ensure timely, appropriate and safe discharge of these patients

·       To provide an interface between the acute hospital and community for Intermediate Care therapists for patients within Intermediate Care

·       Be a credible role model, able to demonstrate good practice to junior staff to maintain local, national and professional standards

·       Chair monthly meetings as required to review individual patient progress within Intermediate Care with therapists to support discharge as required

·       Meet regularly with partners to monitor contract specifications and implement changes as required

Training and education

Essential criteria
  • Qualified therapist with minimum of 5 years experience
  • HCPC registration and active
  • Worked in Community Health services
Desirable criteria
  • Masters degree or equivalent
  • Recognised management qualification
