Job overview
The successful candidate will work as a clinical lead OT within Secure Services -( medium and low secure wards) based at Brockfield House, but will be expected to visits wards across the trust sites.
The post holder will have direct responsibility for the Occupational Therapy team, consisting of OT's OTA's Activity Coordinators, Employment, Education Coordinator and Physical Health and Wellbeing Coordinator .
The role will be they supporting the delivery of OT services within the wider team as part of the multi-disciplinary team within secure services.
The post holder will have the opportunity to utilise clinical skills as they contribute directly with the management of people with complex care needs, and leadership skills providing supervision and shaping the delivery of services.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will also work alongside the Occupational Therapy team within the forensic inpatient setting, taking the lead on assessments and intervention planning as well as supporting transition/discharge planning and recovery focused pathways

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will work closely with the Head of Allied Health Professionals for Specialist Services to lead on the provision and delivery of evidence based Occupational Therapy interventions within Secure Services across Essex Partnership University NHS Trust (EPUT).
The post holder will work as a senior member of the multidisciplinary clinical team responsible for the assessment and provision of specialist bio-psycho-social interventions of service users with serious mental illness (SMI) and forensic histories, using the VdT Model of Creative Ability and other recovery focussed interventions. In addition to this, the post holder will oversee Occupational Therapy provision and hold a complex caseload, providing specialist Occupational Therapy input.

Education
Essential criteria
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy or equivalent level of specialist knowledge
- HCPC Registration
- Evidence of continuing professional and personal development.
- Postgraduate training in Occupational Therapy
Desirable criteria
- Additional relevant qualifications, e.g. Sensory Integration, counselling, CBT, etc.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- In-depth knowledge of mental health conditions and treatment available including a range of evidence based treatment techniques
- Understanding of recovery process Knowledge of Occupational Therapy Models of Practice Knowledge of relevant legislation relating to mental health
- Knowledge of Safeguarding issues and child protection requirements/legislation and how these apply to the role
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of VdTMoCA
- Awareness of current legislation affecting Mental Health Services.
- Understanding of the Mental Health Act
Skills and Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of working in Mental Health and/or a Forensic setting
- Significant experience of using high quality and culturally sensitive Occupational Therapy Assessment and treatment that is evidence based and occupation based
- Group-work skills. Writing group protocols, group planning, group evaluation
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi- disciplinary team.
- Experience of supervision of staff and students
- Clinical risk assessment and management
- Experience of supervision of staff and students
Desirable criteria
- Specialist assessment or intervention skills and training.
- Ability to assess and prescribe adaptive equipment to support independent living.
- Presenting information to large groups or external bodies
