SACT Nurse Specialist

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.
Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

You will need expert knowledge to support patients with their cancer diagnosis and support them whilst undergoing systemic anti cancer treatments . Successful candidates will work and act as a role models for professional practice at all times and deliver high standards of care to patients, their families and carers.
Provide expert nursing advice and support to other health professionals.
Support in the development of junior sdtaff and work closely with members of the multi disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
Our amazing team are looking for nurses with passion and drive who are committed to maintaining and improving care for patients and their families who are undergoing chemotherapy/SACT.
Predominantly your role will be to deliver excellent holistic nursing care to patients receiving chemotherapy/SACT and supportive care.
The unit provides care for patients receiving outpatient Chemotherapy for oncological/haematological malignancies .The nursing staff in this nurse led unit are experts in providing high quality care, undertaking patient assessments, symptom control, management of complications as a result of treatments/disease and give expert advice to all our patients and other health professionals.
Support the delivery of the outpatient Chemotherapy service in providing comprehensive nursing support for patients undergoing systemic anti-cancer (SACT) treatments and support care in line with the broad aims of improving outcomes, guidance in the delivery of services.

Professional / clinical
Essential criteria
- First Level registration with NMC, Post-registration experience. Oncology / Haematology experience .SACT experience .
Desirable criteria
- Acute oncology course/module. Non medical prescribing. Clinical examination and assessment qualification. Advanced communication skills.
Research

- Awareness of published research pertinent to role
Desirable criteria

Education
