Job overview

The post-holder will provide comprehensive training, user guidance and support to improve business and clinical processes through electronic applications and systems for the Trust and satellite sites across the local health community.

The post holder will be expected to take responsibility for aspects of the day-to-day administration and management of training provision. The role includes a focus on the exploitation of technology and solutions throughout the Trust, facilitating the realisation of benefits identified from the introduction of new technology.

As part of this role you should be able to deliver end user training of Trust systems and standard desktop software applications to all levels of staff across the organisation in line with the standard operating procedure for IT Training; Function as a subject matter expert across a variety of topics; Produce and update training content including eLearning and user guidance.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to contribute to planning, design and delivery of complex IT systems training.

This will include providing advice and instructions to groups of clinical and non-clinical staff according to their identified training requirements. 

In addition, you will also assist with the development and production of end-user training, quick reference guides and competency-based tests. 

You will work alongside the wider Clinical Informatics Team, Change and training teams to engage clinicians and managers in the design and development of EPR training raising awareness, informing and engaging colleagues across the Trust.

You will also be responsible for enrolling, maintaining and updating learner records for auditing and reporting.

You should be suitably qualified possessing a degree level qualification and/or relevant experience working in the NHS using Clinical Systems.

Experience of working with Cerner EPR would be advantageous. You will have excellent planning and organisational skills, good interpersonal skills at all levels, and be able to present complex information to a variety of audiences.

To be successful you will need good knowledge of Information Technology in a clinical systems environment and be prepared to take intensive learning of EPR applications and workflows.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide digital training in various settings; online/classroom/at the elbow.

To ensure the trust Digital training system is up to date with the most relevant content and this is shared with wider teams.

Be a subject matter expert on a variety of topics related to digital training and clinical pathways.

Contribute to planning, design and delivery of complex Training, advice and instructions to clinical and non-clinical staff.

Analyse current skill levels of groups of staff to contribute to training plans.

Co-ordinate and collaborate with Learning and Development Teams ensuring online Training is in accordance with job roles and SOPs.

Assist with the development of additional training materials including Quick reference Guides and training handouts.

Deliver Specific and appropriate training and learning activities as agreed with Change leads, Clinical Informatics and Project Teams.

Full times hours – flexible working and hybrid working considered.

Person specification

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree level education or equivalent specialist knowledge acquired through relevant experience
  • Training related qualifications; for example TAP, City and Guilds 7307/7407 or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
  • Additional IT related qualifications
  • Cerner accredited trainer

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Solid grasp of training principles and methodology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with information security and confidentiality and date quality issues.
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of clinical and non -clinical healthcare processes.
  • Understanding of change management issues
  • Experience of working in an NHS environment.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in delivering digital systems training.
  • Experience of using technology to improve working practices
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in delivering training for EPR systems.
  • Experience in delivering Cerner systems training as business as usual and for implementations.
