Medical Education Fellow

NHS Medical & Dental: Local Appointment nodal point 2 (MT02)

Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic doctor at FY3 level to take on the role of a full-time Medical Education Fellow, working across Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust and the Kent & Medway Medical School (KMMS).

The post offers a unique chance to gain invaluable experience in Medical Education within a large NHS Trust and a thriving Medical School. You will collaborate with dynamic teams to design, implement and deliver innovative, integrated training programmes for NHS medical trainees and undergraduate students.

The Trust supports approximately 480 trainees across Foundation, Core, GPST and Higher Specialty levels. Training programmes are closely monitored through Local Faculty Groups and the Local Academic Board, with strong trainee representation, and are quality assured through the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery (KSS) and the General Medical Council (GMC) via the National Training Survey (NTS), ensuring a high standard of education and development.

As a Medical Education Fellow, you will play a key role in supporting this large and diverse trainee body. You will design and deliver structured, curriculum-aligned teaching sessions for undergraduate medical students and postgraduate trainees up to Foundation Year 2 level, including core teaching, clinical skills and simulation. You will also contribute to assessment activity, trainee support and quality improvement initiatives to enhance the overall training experience.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will contribute to both postgraduate and undergraduate medical education within the Trust, undertaking a range of responsibilities as set out in the job description.

In addition, one day per week will be dedicated to working with the KMMS Faculty, supporting the delivery and ongoing development of the Clinical and Professional Skills curriculum for Year 1 and Year 2 medical students.
