Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Haematology and Blood Transfusion teams, working to implement the new, network wide Laboratory Information System (LIMS) and ICE Ordercomms.

Work with the Haematology and Blood Transfusion team to ensure the new Laboratory Information System (LIMS) is designed, tested and implemented in line with the Network timelines alongside support the testing and implementation of ICE, the Trust's new ordercomms system.

Work with the Network project management team, IT team, Quality team and Haematology and Blood Transfusion team to help support these projects to completion, support training of staff once testing has been completed.

Education and training

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience
Desirable criteria
  • Project Management qualification
  • Experience of practice as a Biomedical Scientist, Senior Assistant Healthcare Scientist in Haematology and or Blood Transfusion/ Blood Sciences

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Strong IT literacy skills e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Project management skills
  • Advanced keyboard skills and proficiency in Excel e.g. formulae, conditional formatting
  • Excellent standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Well organised
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a busy team
  • Ability to act on own initiative seeking support where necessary
  • Ability to achieve set targets within a specified timeframe
  • Ability to problem solve
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of writing system test scripts and testing of new laboratory IT systems or similar
  • Previous experience of using Clinisys Winpath IT System
  • Previous knowledge of a hospital blood tracking system
