Job overview

Moving and Handling Trainer [Bank] band 6

Are you passionate about staff safety, patient dignity, and enabling independence in the community? Bromley Healthcare is seeking an experienced and motivated Moving and Handling Trainer to join our team on a part-time basis. This Band 6 role plays a vital part in supporting the delivery of high-quality, safe care across our community services.

You will design and deliver engaging, evidence-based training in manual handling and the Trusted Assessor framework, empowering clinical and care staff to work safely, confidently, and in line with national best practice. Working closely with our Quality, Clinical Education, and Health & Safety teams, you'll help drive safe systems of work, reduce risk, and promote a positive safety culture.

As a clinically registered professional with experience in a healthcare or community setting, you’ll use your knowledge of manual handling techniques, equipment, minor adaptations, and risk assessment to deliver impactful training and advice. You will also support and mentor our internal Key Train the Trainers (KTTs) to ensure consistent standards are maintained across the organisation.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference — enabling staff, supporting independence at home, and improving outcomes for people in Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich.

Main duties of the job

Plan, deliver and evaluate Moving and Handling and Trusted Assessor training for clinical and non-clinical staff across classroom, simulation, and community settings. Provide expert advice and in-situ support for complex or high-risk handling scenarios, including in patients’ homes and care settings. Promote the safe and effective use of equipment, including hoists, slide sheets, beds, and small aids that support patient independence. Maintain current knowledge of manual handling legislation and ensure training content and guidance reflect best practice and legal requirements.

Support incident investigations and audits, contributing to learning actions and service improvement initiatives. Mentor and quality-assure Bromley Healthcare’s Key Train the Trainers (KTTs) to ensure consistency, competence, and safe delivery. Liaise with equipment providers and loan services to stay updated on new developments and innovations. Work with Quality and Governance leads to ensure policy and training are compliant and evidence-based, and support reviews and amendments as needed. Maintain accurate documentation of training and assessments, and provide leadership and expert advice in all aspects of moving and handling across the organisation.
