To work as part of the Team to provide an efficient Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontic Service to the Trust.

Deputize for manager in her absence, maintaining supplies and service delivery.

Training and supervision of junior staff, new employees to the department.

To always act in a manner consistent with the GDC Code of Professional conduct carrying out his/her duties in accordance with the Trust policies and procedures.

Main duties of the job

  • Clean and prepare surgeries to establish and maintain suitable cross infection standards, and preparation of sterile trolleys for individual procedures.
  • Establish patient’s medical records prior to commencement of the clinic.
  • Assisting clinicians in specialist treatment of maxillofacial and orthodontic patients. Carry out treatment and assist in the supervision of patients until they are fit to leave the premises.
  • Assist with invasive day procedure, which requires contact with blood/body fluids, including treatment of sedated patients using local anesthetic.
  • Accompany the specialty Dr when carrying out treatment in other departments. ward visits, operating theatres, HDU (Sectioned patients).
  • Assist in the treatment of patients with facial and oral cancers.
  • Monitoring patients post-operatively.
  • Instruct patients in all clinical advice prior to and after surgery.
