The Lancashire Cardiac Centre is a tertiary provider of heart and lung services for the population of Lancashire and South Cumbria. We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Physiologist with specialist expertise in Pacing/Electrophysiology to take on the role of Pacing Services Manager in Cardiac Investigations Unit.

As a key member of our team, you will hold day‑to‑day responsibility for Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) services, collaborating with service managers, physiologists, nursing and Cardiologist teams. A major focus of the role will be the development and expansion of remote monitoring services, helping us to meet increasing activity demands while delivering an excellent patient experience.

We perform a high volume of complex cardiac rhythm work, including EP studies, ablations and implantation of over 900 pacemakers, ICDs, CRT devices and loop recorders each year, supported by physiologist‑led follow‑up and remote monitoring clinics.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and collaborative leader who can drive service development and uphold the highest clinical standards.

Essentials Requirements

•    Extensive experience in Pacing and/or Electrophysiology

•    BSc in Clinical Physiology (equivalent degree) & BHRS (equivalent) accreditation

•    Strong leadership, service‑development and communication skills

Main duties of the job

The post holder will autonomously manage, coordinate and oversee all activities related to the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Service at the Lancashire Cardiac Centre, Blackpool Victoria Hospital. This includes Pacemakers, Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICDs), Cardiac Resynchronisation Therapy (CRT) devices, and Implantable Loop Recorders.
They will provide operational and professional leadership for the specialist cardiac physiologists working within the CRM service and act as the regional technical expert for cardiac devices across Lancashire and South Cumbria (LSC). The role includes developing and maintaining clinical pathways, protocols and standards to support high‑quality, safe and efficient service delivery.
The post holder will work collaboratively with clinical, managerial and procurement stakeholders to ensure cost‑effective device management and budgetary stewardship across CRM services. As a highly experienced and knowledgeable cardiac physiologist, they will practise independently, delivering advanced patient care and contributing to the wellbeing of patients throughout the LSC region.
