Job overview
At Blackpool Victoria Hospital we are looking to recruit Consultants in Emergency Medicine. We want great colleagues to join our expanding team. ED is a demanding but rewarding speciality and we all want to be able to work in a sustainable inclusive way.

Main duties of the job
We want to provide a supportive, inclusive environment to allow staff to deliver great care, provide great education and have a great work life balance.
The Emergency Department has undergone a full refurbishment as part of our Emergency Village project.
The Emergency Department includes separate facilities for children. Additionally, we have a co-located Medical Assessment Centre, co-located UTC and a frailty assessment unit that we have access to. We are supported onsite by access to the Regional Tertiary Cardiology & Cardiothoracic services which are located on this site.

The Emergency Department at Blackpool Vic serves a unique population providing it’s own set of challenges. We are a Trauma Unit for Lancashire and South Cumbria Trauma network, but we are the Trauma Centre for patients with isolated penetrating thoracic trauma.

Professional Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Primary medical qualification
- FRCEM
- Entry on Specialist register or in receipt of CCT within 6 months of interview
Desirable criteria
- Recognised as Educational Supervisor with GMC
Experience
Essential criteria
- Completion of specialist training in Emergency Medicine or Completion of CESR
- Evidence of achievement of CT1/2/3 ACS Emergency Medicine competences And Completion or equivalent experience to ST4 – ST6 Emergency Medicine Training
- ALS, EPALS / APLS, ATLS/ETC

- Competent in all aspects of RCEM Curriculum including relevant clinical procedures
- Able to prioritise clinical needs, time and workload
- Understand the importance of effective team working
- Ability to assess, recognise and initial management of the acutely ill patient and play an effective part in advanced life support
