Job overview

To provide full PA/secretarial service to the Cardiology Clinical and Medical workforce to work in a fast paced environment managing challenging demands

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the provision of a full secretarial and administrative support service to Specialist Medicine Teams, ensuring a high standard of PA/secretarial; duties is maintained and deadlines are met.

To use initiative working autonomously within the remit of the role.

To maintain a high standard of service to meet patient needs; keep accurate, up to date records.

To support the organisation in the delivery of a seamless pathway of care.

The post holder will provide cross cover for fellow secretaries when required.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • English language and Maths GCSE grade C or above or equivalent qualification.
  • • NVQ3/RSA Level 3 or equivalent typing and computer skills
Desirable criteria
  • • Medical Secretarial AMSPAR qualification or equivalent experience

knowledge/experience

Essential criteria
  • • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and telephone).
  • • Excellent interpersonal skills in order to liaise with clinicians, senior managers and clerical staff.
  • • Ability to react to unpredictable issues and re prioritising workload.
  • • Good keyboard skills for regular /prolonged use of computer systems/IT skills.
  • • Audio transcription skills.
Desirable criteria
  • • Evidence of training and development of other people.
  • • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • • Competent use of Lorenzo, Le2.2 Patient Administration Systems or similar.
  • • Understanding of medical terminology with more than one specialty.
  • • Understanding of NHS
  • • Knowledge of Caldicott guidelines and data protection.
  • • Evidence of on-going personal development.
