Job overview
To provide full PA/secretarial service to the Cardiology Clinical and Medical workforce to work in a fast paced environment managing challenging demands
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the provision of a full secretarial and administrative support service to Specialist Medicine Teams, ensuring a high standard of PA/secretarial; duties is maintained and deadlines are met.
To use initiative working autonomously within the remit of the role.
To maintain a high standard of service to meet patient needs; keep accurate, up to date records.
To support the organisation in the delivery of a seamless pathway of care.
The post holder will provide cross cover for fellow secretaries when required.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • English language and Maths GCSE grade C or above or equivalent qualification.
- • NVQ3/RSA Level 3 or equivalent typing and computer skills
Desirable criteria
- • Medical Secretarial AMSPAR qualification or equivalent experience
knowledge/experience
Essential criteria
- • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and telephone).
- • Excellent interpersonal skills in order to liaise with clinicians, senior managers and clerical staff.
- • Ability to react to unpredictable issues and re prioritising workload.
- • Good keyboard skills for regular /prolonged use of computer systems/IT skills.
- • Audio transcription skills.
Desirable criteria
- • Evidence of training and development of other people.
- • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office.
- • Competent use of Lorenzo, Le2.2 Patient Administration Systems or similar.
- • Understanding of medical terminology with more than one specialty.
- • Understanding of NHS
- • Knowledge of Caldicott guidelines and data protection.
- • Evidence of on-going personal development.
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
