This is an opportunity to join the team within Occupational Therapy rotation.  

The rotations are 6 monthly, rotating through hospital and community services which currently cover: Orthopaedics, Home First, Inpatient Therapies, Surgery, Stroke, Social Services (Independent Living Services), Community Therapy, Palliative Care and Intermediate Care bed based, Paediatric Services and Learning Disabilities

Main duties of the job

You will be required to have excellent clinical reasoning and problem skills with an ability to use and apply a range of assessment and treatment techniques and approaches relevant to specialist area you are on rotation. You will work within effective multidisciplinary teams.

Have a key Ability to communicate effectively and flexibly and to adapt your communication style to the needs of patients, carers and staff

You will be an effective team player, inspirational, flexible, adaptable, enthusiastic and fully committed to the development of patient focused, clinically effective and efficient services.

Successful candidates will participate in and be supported through a well-established preceptorship programme, you will receive regular supervision and appraisals, in service training and peer support forum, in addition to the opportunity to develop and consolidate your clinical skills.

You will need to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and its users, which may include weekends, late and bank holidays on a rota basis.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with the Health Care Professions Council
  • Evidence of CPD through maintenance of a portfolio
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of appropriate professional body
  • ECDL

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Broad range of clinical experience gained through student placements or post graduate experience.
  • Experience of managing a caseload of clients with complex needs
  • Experience of problem solving
  • Experience of effective team working
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of assessing and treating patients who do not speak English or have other barriers to communication
  • Participation in clinical audit
