Staff Nurse - Paediatrics

NHS AfC: Band 5

Job overview

We are seeking to recruit a Staff Nurse RN(Child)/RSCN to work on our Paediatric Outpatient Department.

We aim to provide an efficient and caring service to meet the health needs of children in Bolton and neighbouring districts.

We take a child and family centred approach, providing care which considers your child’s complete physical and emotional well-being.  We have staff from a variety of disciplines working as a team to provide care for your child and family.

In addition, there are nurse led clinics that support the medical team offering:

  • Nursed led-blood clinics
  • Play specialist support clinics
  • Skin prick testing
  • Pre-assessment
  • RSV immunisation clinic (synagis)

The department offers x-rays, ECGs and other tests that can be carried out on your visit.

Main duties of the job

Promoting and delivering the highest standard of nursing care, ensuring all fundamentals of care are addressed and current, relevant policies and procedures are adhered to.

Undertaking clinical skills such as venepuncture, vaccinations, skin prick testing and pre-assessment.

Applications from overseas Nurses - The Trust appreciates and values the contribution international nurses bring to the NHS. We also understand the support overseas nurses need to gain full registration once in the UK (via OSCE) and therefore we only recruit internationally to fill nursing vacancies when we can ensure support is in place. At this present time we aren’t in a position to offer that support and therefore will not accept applications from overseas nurses who only have Part 1 NMC registration. If that position changes in future we will clearly advertise our opportunities for international nurses to join our nurse team here in Bolton. Thank you for your understanding.

Working for our organisation

This hospital is known for being a friendly and supportive place to work; a large part of this is due to the teams that work here. As a qualified paediatric nurse you can be assured that you will be supported and developed in your role. All our newly qualified nurses complete the Preceptorship Programme and are supported by the senior team and the practice educators and development programmes are available for experienced staff.

The Family Division aims to deliver the highest standards of care for maternity, sexual health, gynaecology and a range of acute and community children’s services. The Division is a Centre of Excellence for Women’s and Children’s services and has a credible and enviable reputation. We deliver over 6,000 babies and carry around 1500 gynaecological procedures each year, making us a specialist provider of health services for women, babies and their families in the North West Sector of Manchester and beyond.
