Job overview

The cardiology directorate provides comprehensive secondary and tertiary cardiology services to patients in North Central London. It is a centre of excellence for pulmonary hypertension and carcinoid heart disease and provides tertiary level expertise in interventional cardiology, echocardiography and valvular heart disease.

The Clinical Physiology team is expanding, and presently staffed by a Senior Chief Cardiac Physiologist supported by a team of cardiac physiologists and assistants. There is also a department co-ordinator, admissions co-ordinator, dedicated CRM admin assistant and front of house receptionists. The cardiology department is supported by ten consultant cardiologists and a team of junior doctors. 

Main duties of the job

  • Physiologist will perform 2-D Echocardiogram with supervision provided.
  • Assist in TOE’s, Bike Stress Echos and DSE’s.
  • Perform and interpret routine cardiac investigations.
  • Perform specialised diagnostics investigations.
  • Carry out complex scientific and clinical roles, including those working directly with patients.
  • Analyse and interpret and data compare investigative and clinical options.
  • Make judgements, including clinical and differential judgements, involving complicated facts or situations that impact on patients.
