The post will be responsible for the quality monitoring of all services provided by an external service provider in line with the 2021 NHS cleaning standards and service specifications that fall within the Soft FM contracts.

Responsible for recording and maintaining audit schedules, identifying and documenting any cleaning, catering or training needs and reporting these back to the Service provider via the agreed reporting mechanism.

 

Main duties of the job

1.       To apply quality control procedures to ensure that the standards of the Service provider comply with the contractual requirements

2.       Conduct Quality Assurance audits as per NHS Cleaning Standards and NHS standards for food and drink and contract requirements

3.       To liaise effectively with FM contract Managers and Supervisors to maintain standards and implement action plans

4.       Work as part of team, but also to work using own initiative. Manage your own time and prioritise your own workload.

5.       Daily liaison with other Team members on all service related issues to ensure the best possible service delivery to the Trust.

6.       To be courteous to staff, visitors, service users & team members

7.       To develop a good knowledge of the units you are visiting to enable efficient auditing practices

8.       To understand the working patterns of the units you are visiting to ensure that the audits do not conflict with the units daily working pattern. 

9.       Attend training courses as required by the Trust.

10.   To work closely with Soft FM Managers and other Facilities Team members, to communicate and promote good Team practises.

11.   To contribute towards checking quality of linen to “packed to ward” sites, checking quality and quantities.

Working for our organisation

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) provide the widest range of NHS mental health services in the UK as well as substance misuse services for people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. We work closely with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN), King's College London and are part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre. There are very few organisations in the world that have such wide-ranging capabilities working with mental illness. Our scope is unique because it is built on three major foundations: care and treatment, science and research, and training.

SLaM employ around 5000 staff and serve a local population of 1.1 million people. We have more than 230 services including inpatient wards, outpatient and community services. Currently, provide inpatient care for approximately 5,300 people each year and treat more than 45,000 patients in the community in Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark; as well as substance misuse services for residents of Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

12.   Report any breaches of policies using the “Datix” reporting protocols.

13.   Create and prepare reports and audits relating to service delivery and performance and recommend actions where areas of improvement are identified.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • hold a recognised facilities or supervisory qualification
  • • Functional skills level 2 (Maths and English) or G.C.S.E certificates
  • • Knowledge of risk assessment and COSHH
  • • Food safety qualification
  • • Safe working practices
  • • Health and safety at work
Desirable criteria
  • • Leadership course certificated

  • • Promotion of best practice and team leadership

Experience

Essential criteria
  • · Computer Literate (Microsoft programmes)
  • · Knowledge of NHS cleaning standards and catering operations
  • · Able to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • · Able to undertake physical tasks such as bending and lifting whilst auditing and are physically fit.
  • · have at least 2 years’ experience working within a Facilities Team. ideally in a Mental Health setting.
  • · Knowledge and experience of NHS cleaning standards, catering operations
  • · Experience of quality auditing, risk assessment, safe working practises (Health and safety at work) are essential in this role.

  • · Familiar with Planet F.M software
