Job overview

We are seeking a Clinical Specialist Renal Dietitian to work in our multi-disciplinary therapy team.  Lead by a Clinical Lead Renal Dietitian and Clinical Lead Renal Occupational Therapist, the team is made of dietitians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and therapy assistants - across inpatient and outpatient settings. Our team supports people living with chronic kidney disease and urological conditions across three wards based at The Royal Free Hospital site, and 5 outpatient centres for low clearance, dialysis and transplantation. This role is a full time role based predominantly off site in the renal outpatient setting on our Haemodialysis units. 

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who has a passion for supporting patients living with Chronic Kidney Disease. Whilst previous renal experience within Dialysis is desirable; we are keen to support dietitians who may have had exposure to renal inpatients and advanced Kidney Care, and value strong transferrable skills such as autonomous management of people with complex nutritional diagnoses, delivering patient centered care and working effectively within an MDT. Experience supporting the development of junior staff will be highly regarded, as will skills in quality improvement, service evaluation or audit.   • • Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
  • • Health Professions Council (HPC) registration
  • • Additional qualification or BDA accredited courses or equivalent in-house training e.g. PENG clinical update, renal course
  • • Experience of working in renal dietetics, IP , Pre Dialysis or Dialysis
Desirable criteria
  • • Membership of special interest group
  • • Evidence or portfolio of post-graduate continued development

Experience

  • • Broad range of clinical experience, across a variety of clinical areas
  • • Experience of managing renal patients
  • • Motivational Interviewing/ Behaviour Change training (CBT or facilitation skills)
  • • Presentation to groups/teaching other Healthcare Professionals
  • • Student training and/or management of junior therapists
  • • Leadership in an audit or project, and knowledge of clinical standards in the management of chronic kidney disease
